Big Plans! 2017 Promo Schedule Announced
Fireworks, bobbleheads, music and theme nights highlight 2017

CHARLESTON, WV (March 9, 2017) - The West Virginia Power, Class A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, are exciting to unveil their 2017 promotional calendar. Over 70 home games, the club will provide a promo schedule sure to delight with fireworks shows, giveaways, live music, as well a blend of new and returning theme nights.
Individual game tickets go on sale online Friday, March 10, at wvpower.com and the Power are running a special, temperature-based promotional price all day Friday in conjunction with WCHS-TV. Tickets will only be available on the Power website throughout the weekend and can be purchased in person at the West Virginia Power box office beginning at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 13.
The Power open the season at Appalachian Power Park on April 6 against the Rome Braves. Gates will open at 6:00 P.M. with a team beanie cap giveaway for the first 1,000 fans. Opening Night will conclude with the first of 16 fireworks shows.
BrewFest CharlieWest, presented by Rock 105, returns for another round on Saturday, April 8, with a 2:05 P.M. game. The first 1,000 fans will receive a West Virginia Power pint glass. The beer festival will begin after the game and will feature live music and some of the best craft brews from the region. A $30 ticket is available, which includes entrance to the game and five craft beer vouchers.
On April 22, fans will receive the first of four bobbleheads to be given away during the season. The first 1,000 fans will receive a 97.5 WQBE Rabbit Bobblehead. Additional bobbleheads will be given away in June, July and August.
West Virginia will host the Charleston RiverDogs on April 26 at 10:35 A.M. in the first of two Grand Slam School Days in 2017. The same teams will also play on May 16 at 10:35 A.M.
Early in the month of May, the Power will hold a mini-comic con on May the 4th, Cinco de Mayo festivities on May 5 and Baywatch Night on Saturday, May 6. The first 1,000 fans will get a beach towel, presented by IHOP, and Power players will wear jerseys inspired by the "classic" television show and soon-to-be movie. Those jerseys will be auctioned off that night.
The Power will induct new members to the Charleston Baseball Wall of Fame on May 13. Voting for the 2017 inductees will be done online at wvpower.com during the month of April. That Saturday evening will also feature the first of four Saturday evening fireworks spectaculars. Thursday, May 25, is the annual "Power to End Stroke" Night, presented by the American Heart Association. May 26 is Military Appreciation Night with free tickets available to active and retired members of the United States Armed Forces.
Redneck Night 6, presented by Bert Wolfe Ford, will go down on May 27 with a country swag hat giveaway, a Redneck Bachelor game show and live music post game courtesy 97.5 WQBE.
The club will host three Pets in the Park nights in 2017 on June 7, July 25 and August 23.
June 9 will be the first ever Retro Video Game Night at Appalachian Power Park and will be followed by post game fireworks presented by UniCare Healthplan.
The team will hold its annual West Virginia Day celebration on June 24 with a giveaway and post game fireworks presented by Appalachian Power.
The ZOOperstars will open a packed Independence Day weekend on June 30. July 1 is the first-ever Power Nickelodeon Night with SpongeBob SquarePants jerseys and a special themed giveaway. BirdZerk! will also appear and the evening is presented by MVB Bank. July 2 is Pirates and Princesses Day with a 2:05 P.M. first pitch. The Power will host the Hickory Crawdads on July 3 at 7:05 P.M. with an extended version of the Kanawha Valley's top fireworks show.
July also features a Faith and Family Night on July 14, a beach tote bag giveaway on July 15 with live post game music, and a mystery bobblehead giveaway on Sunday, July 16, for the first 500 fans. Hatfield & McCoy Night is slated for July 22 with a bevy of feud festivities and post game fireworks.
The West Virginia Power will honor Rod Blackstone and "25 Years of Toast" on August 3, host South Charleston Community Night on August 4 with fireworks presented by Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley and have their annual Back to School Night on Saturday, August 5, with a backpack giveaway courtesy the West Virginia Division of Rehabilitation Services.
The final homestand of the season will include a post game fireworks show presented by West Virginia American Water on August 25 and a Dave Parker bobblehead giveaway on August 26. "The Cobra" is a member of the Charleston Baseball Wall of Fame and will be honored for his time as a Charlie and a Pirate. The Charleston Building & Construction Trades Council are pleased to present the giveaway and the final fireworks show of the season that evening.
Mondays, with the exception of July 3, will once again be Family Buck Nights, with $1.00 general admission tickets, $3.00 box seats and $1.00 concession specials. Two for Tuesdays will provide two-for-one concession and drink specials. The Power will offer 12 ounce drafts for $1.00 as well as $2.00 16 ounce cans during each Thirsty Thursday home game. Fireworks will follow every Friday home game this season.
